Marinara Sauce



Ingredients 1/2 Cup Olive Oil 8 Cloves Garlic, chopped 1/2 Cup Salt Pork, finely chopped 1 Cup Celery, chopped 2 Cups Sweet Onions, chopped 1/2 Cup Carrots, chopped 6 Shallots, chopped 1 Can Peeled Italian Tomatoes 1 Can Tomato Puree 4 Ounces Tomato Paste 1 Cup V-8® Vegetable Juice 1 Bay Leaf 1 Tablespoon Oregano


Instructions 1. In large saucepan, heat olive oil over low heat. Add garlic and salt pork and cook for three minutes. Do not brown. 2. Add celery, onions, carrots, and shallots and cook until tender. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, V-8 juice, bay leaf, and oregano. 3. Simmer gently for 3-4 hours.


Description

Having this delicious sauce in the freezer helps to get a great meal on the table in a short time.

Notes Best if allowed to cool and refrigerate overnight. Heat and serve the next day.
