Ingredients 2 1/4 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 4 squares baking chocolate 1 1/4 cups milk 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 2/3 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 3 eggs
Instructions 1. Sift flour and salt and sugar and set aside. 2. Melt chocolate and milk until chocolate melts. Add brown sugar and beat until smooth. Cool and add vanilla. 3. Cream sugar and shortening in mixing bowl. Add eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly after each addition. 4. Add the sifted dry ingredients alternately with the chocolate mixture, beating well after each addition. 5. Bake in greased large loaf pan in oven preheated to 350 for 35 minutes.
