Cole Slaw

Ingredients 3 cups cabbage, shredded 1/4 cup onion, grated 1/4 cup carrot, grated 1/3 cup mayonnaise 1 tablespoon vinegar 2 teaspoons sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon celery seed




Instructions Combine cabbage, onion and carrot. Blend remaining ingredients well and pour over vegetable mixture. Mix well. Allow to sit at least 4 hours before serving.


Description

This is a creamy cole slaw which is my preference.

Notes I have always used Miracle Whip rather than mayonnaise and find that it gives it a nice extra "zip" that everyone enjoys. I kept trying to make cole slaw, one of my favorite foods, and wasn't getting the results I wanted. I was at the home of my very dear friend, Carol Ann Gould, and she served cole slaw that was exactly the way that I liked it so I asked how she had made it. She said it was the recipe from Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book and this is the way that I have made it for 60 years.
